With lots of love for the details, the necessary accurateness as well as with the due respect referring the tradition of the ancient castle, a comprehensive reconstruction was carried out along with the erection of additional rooms in 2003.

You'll find this unique castle of the luxury class over the rooftops of the old town of Salzburg, surrounded by a fabulous park with more than 15.000 m² of meadows and trees. The combination of old tradition and state of the art design and modern technique represent a very particular attractiveness. We shall be more than pleased to spoil you - e.g. at either of the 23 individually decorated suites with valueable antiques and luxurious bathrooms made of marble.

The new Mönchstein cuisine can be typified as a creative combination of traditional Austrian cuisine enriched with Mediterranean zeitgeist. Our chef, Herbert Schmidhofer, Newcomer of the year 2003 and awarded by the Gault Millau gourmet guide with two "Hauben" is more than glad to care for you in either of our restaurants.

For very festive and romantic occasions "THE SMALLEST RESTAURANT OF THE WORLD" is definitively the place you'd choose. You'll dine at the highest top of the castle in the tower and have a scenic view all over the town, the fortress and the mountains.

Banquet functions and conferences will be held in a very tradional ambience as well. You may receipt your guests at the historical "GOTHIC CHAMBER" which is, of course, under monumental protection. This splendid function room offers both unique ambience combined with the most recent technical equipment.
